What is VIP Project?

  • A program to administer influenza vaccines to 2,000 students in the Campbell County School district during the fall of  2016.

Who is Involved?

  • Campbell County Healthcare Foundation

  • Campbell County Public Health 

  • Campbell County School District 

  • Campbell County Health 

Project Goals:

  • Improve attendance in Campbell County School district by reducing absences due to influenza 

  • Provide access to influenza vaccination for students who may not otherwise be vaccinated, due to parent's work schedules, lack of transportation or cost of vaccination.                          

  • Track the program's effectiveness by analyzing influenza indidence data, vaccination rates, CCSD absenteeism and other data. 

  • Decrease employee absenteeism in Campbell County businesses due to influenza.

How Does It Work?

  • Your child will receive a consent form in their back-to-school packet. A parent or guardian needs to fill out and sign the consent form and return in to the school no later than September 30th, 2016. 

  • Your child will receive their flu vaccination between October and November 2016. 

  • Your child will receive an injectable vaccine from a Public Health nurse.  

What is a Influenza Vaccination?

  • Influenza (Flu) vaccines immunizes against the respiratory flu NOT gastrointestinal upset characterized by nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps commonly called "the flu". The 2016-2017 flu vaccine protects against 4 strains of influenza. These include H1N1, H3N2, B-Brisbane and B-Florida.
